* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) St. Petersburg, Florida — On August 22, 2026, St. Petersburg Police were called to a home on 5th Street North after a family member requested a welfare check on 48-year-old Brian Michael Pepal. The situation quickly escalated when Pepal came outside and attacked Officers Daniel Poveda and Tammy Craig. Investigators said the confrontation became a violent struggle, with both officers being pushed into vehicles and injured as they attempted to gain control of Pepal. The officers deployed Tasers and eventually brought him to the ground, where they handcuffed and restrained him. Shortly afterward, Pepal became unresponsive.
