The residents here are not prisoners; they are free to come and go as they please, like any adult. However, their staying with us is definitely contingent on following the House rules. When they screw up, they are sometimes given a second chance, maybe in exchange for a few favors. Sometimes, though, we just toss their shit out onto the curb and tell them to call someone, if they even have anyone to call.We could all tell from the minute we met this guy that he wouldn't last long. He seemed to think recovery was a joke, and that his stay with us at the Halfway House was just a nice vacation in a sunny, warm place. In addition to having shit for brains, his attitude was one of nonchalance. It cam as no surprise that the first weekend at the House he fucked up. There is a curfew here, with few exceptions: namely, a job that requires someone to work late. This one obviously did not have a job. I mean, who would hire him?
